[A pause. He's still hesitant about admitting this. Even if he's rather sure she's aware of telepathically.]

How do you know - about that sort of thing?

I mean, it just kind of sounded like it in your voice. Voices are what I do basically, back home. I've worked in radio since college. Besides, [A little smile as she points out:] you did say you had a headache, Doctor.

[An ear for voices? Interesting talent. Why would she? Oh. Oh Then a soft.]

[The Doctor goes to waggle with his tongue for a moment.]

Just haven't met a human before that has come across this sort of thing before.

The creature with the telepathically - didn't try to harm you. Did it?

No he didn’t. He’d never hurt me. Not like that.

I was with Richard when it happened. He felt it.

He's... exhausted. Has a headache. Trying to deal with this whole new thing where he needs to admit what he is.

It's hard. He's protected himself by being a skeptic for so long...

Understandable. That's what humans do. When they're afraid of something.

Honestly? I think he needs to be the one who decides to reach out to people. Otherwise it's very likely that he's just going to slip back into his denial thing.

He's been doing it for basically his entire life since he was a kid, you know? Other than when his wife disappeared.

[Ten eyes Alex with wide and understanding eyes, while head nodding slightly.]

That's fair.

Well, I can imagine being a human in a society that doesn't embrace that sort of ability. That, and - the sigma that is attached to teleksis. Pyshic abilites. The fear of being hypnotized or having your mind read, unwilling.

And, he's right to be afraid of those abilities.

Right to be afraid of them? I don't understand. Are you talking about like the Order and the Mantle thing or is it something more generalized?

Because being afraid of something that's been a part of you doesn't seem like it'd be very good for a person. I mean it's basically destroyed Richard's life and made him a shell of walls and hurt.

The right to be afraid of those abilities to a healthy degree. Because having those abilities opens the temptation of reading minds. Hypnosis.

He does need to embrace that part of himself. But also understand that with his abilities he needs to resist temptations.

[The Doctor's eyes are full of sypathmy]

I'd would think having to hide who you are because of the fear of being hounded or experimented on... and not having a society that embraced your gift right away.

I don’t think he can read minds. I think he can find things. People. He found...

[Alex just lets the sentence drop but she frowns and just rests her chin on her hand for a moment.]

The ironic thing is that his Institute back home would be the thing that’s calling for him to be tested on. He never believed anything without hard scientific proof.
